The materials mapping portal

An important aspect of the circular economy is keeping materials in use, at their highest value to avoid materials becoming a waste product.

Register to unlock detailed data and connect with local businesses.

Circular Connect has partnered with Peclet Technology to create an online portal which maps potential material streams in the Riverina and Murray region.

This portal uses an advanced predictive data model to provide insights into precinctlevel waste production. The predictive model has been built using a dataset containing actual waste and resources data associated with industry size and types to estimate where certain material streams are likely to be generated across the region. As the portal is based on predictive modelling, the information presented should be understood as an indication of potential opportunities rather than a verified inventory of available materials or confirmed business demand.

The portal guides users looking for a pathway for a particular type of material. When signed into the portal, you will be able to navigate, depending on your business needs.

Takers:
A business looking for a particular material stream to utilise in their manufacturing process or take product which another business may consider waste.

Feedstock:
A business may have leftover materials which need to be collected for further processing. Similar materials may be able to be combined for better market price and support logistics options.

Industrial Symbiosis is the key to embracing a circular economy.

Industrial symbiosis is the process by which wastes or by-products of an industry or industrial process become the raw materials for another. It allows value to be created from materials that would otherwise be discarded. Therefore, the materials remain economically valuable for longer than in traditional industrial systems.

To access the portal, businesses must create an account through the link provided once signed up.
